Put your mouth where the money is
Pitch your Project is part of TimeBank’s Journey to Health initiative, funded by the Department of Health.
Pitch your Project to our panel of experts and you could win £2000 and support
to help your community group grow.
We’re looking for health, wellbeing and fitness projects with innovative ideas for using volunteers. Whether you’re running a sports club, befriending scheme, patient support group or nutrition programme; if you stand out from the crowd, we want to hear from you.
Pitch your Project gives you the chance to be filmed ‘Dragons’ Den’ style putting forward your ideas. Five shortlisted projects will be given £250 to develop a pitch as well as receiving face to face advice from a panel of experts in communications, design, health and volunteering. The project that comes up with the best pitch will win a prize of £2000.
James Caan, entrepreneur and ‘dragon’ on BBC 2’s Dragons’ Den says:
Nothing can compare to the challenge of pitching your idea to a panel of experts in front of a camera. It really sorts the wheat from the chaff. This project is an interesting opportunity to learn about ideas for improving people’s health and wellbeing.
My advice to organisations pitching is to prepare by putting yourself in the shoes of the Dragons and thinking about the sort of questions they might ask.
Pitch your Project is run in partnership with the NHS Foundation Trust Network. The scheme is looking for innovative and effective ways in which volunteers can support the delivery of health and wellbeing services. These may be either inside or outside of the health system. They may be based in the community or within an institution.
Pitch your Project provides you with an excellent opportunity to find out more about what it means to be a member of your local NHS Foundation Trust. You will have the chance to engage with the Foundation Trust and have your say about the future of your hospital.
Pitch your Project days will be taking place in Foundation Trust Hospitals around the country during 2008. The closing date for the current round is 30th June 2008.
The charity and community groups will spend a day at the hospital in which the competition is being run. They will have a range of resources and advice available to them in the Green Room while waiting for their opportunity to pitch their idea.
The experts on the panel will include a member of the Foundation Trust’s Board of Governors , a member of the Social Enterprise funding body UnLtd, a media ‘Dragon’ and an expert from the voluntary sector. The pitch, including any advice given, will be filmed to create an online resource and inspiration for other voluntary and health organisations to learn from.
All organisations applying to the scheme will have online access to the ideas, tips and advice captured on the day to help inspire them to develop their own project.
If you would like to win this seed money and help your organisation grow and evolve we’d love to hear from you. But apply soon - we’re expecting a big response!
Closing date midnight 30th June
